How to read it: colors and grays should look even, with no white lines, streaks or missing colors. Fine lines should be crisp, and the 6 pt text readable. Streaks or gaps usually mean clogged nozzles — run your printer’s nozzle check or head cleaning.

Questions people ask

Does a test page use a lot of ink?

Less than a photo. The color page uses solid patches, so it takes a little more ink than a page of text. If ink is low, print the black-and-white version first.

Can my printer print its own test page?

Usually, yes. Most printers can print a status, network configuration or nozzle check page from the control panel or setup menu. That page tests the printer alone. This one also tests the path from your iPhone or computer to the printer.

Should I pick US Letter or A4?

Use the paper that’s in your tray. US Letter is standard in the United States, Canada and Mexico. A4 is used almost everywhere else. If the sizes don’t match, the printer may stop and ask for paper or scale the page.

Why are the edges of the page cut off?

Most printers can’t print the last 3–5 mm at the edge of the sheet. The corner marks sit 5 mm in. If they’re missing, check that scaling is set to 100% or “Actual size” and that the paper size matches.

The test page won’t print at all. What now?

Then the problem is the connection, not the print quality. Start with iPhone can’t find printer, or clear a stuck print job.
