Print from iPhone to a Brother printer

Written for iOS 26 and iOS 27 Updated By The Printer team

Quick answer

Most Brother printers with Wi-Fi support AirPrint, so you can print from your iPhone without installing anything. Connect the printer to the same Wi-Fi, tap Share → Print and pick it. Brother Mobile Connect or iPrint&Scan, depending on the model, adds scanning and supply levels. Printer prints with no account.

What you’ll need

  • A Brother printer with Wi-Fi that supports AirPrint
  • Your iPhone and the printer on the same Wi-Fi network
  • The printer’s control panel, or a Brother app, if the printer isn’t on Wi-Fi yet

Brother is known for reliable laser printers and business-grade all-in-ones, and most of its Wi-Fi models print from an iPhone with no extra software. Brother has two apps for phones, which one you need depends on the model, and for everyday printing you may not need either.

Three ways to print to a Brother printer

All three use your Wi-Fi connection. The difference is what each one adds.

AirPrint (built into iOS) Brother Mobile Connect or iPrint&Scan Printer app

Cost Free Free Free to download; Printer Pro subscription unlocks unlimited prints, Pro tools and watermark-free printing

AirPrint is built into iOS, so anything with a Share button can print.

Brother’s apps. Brother iPrint&Scan prints and scans from supported Brother printers. Brother Mobile Connect does the same and adds supply ordering and a printer dashboard; both can show ink or toner levels on supported models. Brother advises downloading the app that supports your exact model.

Printer is our app. It prints to Brother printers over AirPrint with no account, no ads and no tracking. It adds a camera document scanner, signing and markup, page selection, and printing for notes, web pages and contact cards.

When a Brother app is the better choice

Printer doesn’t scan from the printer’s glass or feeder, show toner or ink levels, or change printer settings. For those, use the printer’s control panel or the Brother app for your model.

Check that your Brother printer supports AirPrint

Most recent Brother printers with Wi-Fi support AirPrint. Check your exact model before you start:

  • Our AirPrint checker takes about 30 seconds.
  • Apple’s official AirPrint search lists printers the manufacturer has certified. If yours isn’t listed, Apple suggests checking with the manufacturer.
  • The iPhone test. Open any photo, tap Share → Print, then tap Printer. If your Brother appears, it supports AirPrint.

Connect your Brother printer to Wi-Fi

Skip this if the printer is already on your network.

  1. Use the printer’s control panel

On Brother printers with a screen, open the Network or WLAN menu and run the Setup Wizard. Choose your network and enter its password.

  2. No screen? Use WPS or a Brother app

Many Brother printers can join with WPS: press the WPS button on your router, then start WPS on the printer as its manual describes. Or run first-time setup in the Brother app for your model.

  3. Put your iPhone on the same network

Open Settings → Wi-Fi and join the printer’s network, not a guest network. If your router has separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz names, try the same one as the printer.

  1. Open what you want to print

A PDF in Files, a photo, a web page in Safari or an email in Mail.

  2. Tap Share → Print

In some apps, Print is under the More (•••) button.

  3. Choose your Brother

Tap Printer, pick your Brother, set copies and options, then tap Print. On models with two-sided printing, you’ll see a double-sided option here.

More detail on every option is in how to print from iPhone.

  1. Choose Brother and your model

On first launch, pick Brother and then your model. Printer finds it on your Wi-Fi and confirms when it’s ready.

  2. Pick what to print

Scan a document with the camera, or choose photos, files, a note, a web page or a contact card.

  3. Check the pages and print

Select the pages you need, sign or crop if required, and tap Print.

Common Brother problems

Most recent Wi-Fi models in these series support AirPrint, but always check your exact model.

Questions people ask

Do I need a Brother app to print from my iPhone?

No, not if your printer supports AirPrint. Open what you want to print, tap Share → Print and choose the Brother. The Brother apps are useful for scanning from the printer and checking supplies, but you don’t need them to print.

Brother Mobile Connect or Brother iPrint&Scan: which one do I need?

It depends on your printer model. Both print and scan, and both can show ink or toner levels on supported models. Mobile Connect adds supply ordering and a printer dashboard. Brother says to use iPrint&Scan if Mobile Connect doesn’t support your model. Check the App Store listing or Brother’s support site for your model.

Can I print to a Brother printer without Wi-Fi?

Many Brother printers support Wi-Fi Direct, which connects your iPhone straight to the printer without a router. See print from iPhone without Wi-Fi.

Why doesn’t my Brother printer show up on my iPhone?

Usually it’s asleep, off Wi-Fi, or on a different network from your iPhone. Work through our iPhone can’t find printer checklist, simplest checks first.

Does Printer work with Brother label printers?

Printer works with printers that support AirPrint. Many label printers use their own apps instead, so check your model with our AirPrint checker first.
