Fix “No AirPrint Printers Found” on iPhone
Written for iOS 26 and iOS 27 Updated By The Printer team
Quick answer
This message means your iPhone can’t see an AirPrint printer on its Wi-Fi network. Wake the printer, check that it supports AirPrint, and make sure the printer and iPhone are on the same network, not a guest network. Then restart the printer, the router and your iPhone. That fixes most cases.
What you’ll need
- Your iPhone and the printer, both switched on
- Access to the Wi-Fi router, in case a setting needs changing
- Your printer’s exact model name (it’s on the front or top)
You tap Print, then Printer, and instead of a list you get No AirPrint Printers Found. It looks like a printer problem, but it’s really a discovery problem: your iPhone asked the Wi-Fi network “which AirPrint printers are here?” and nothing answered.
There are only three reasons that happens. The printer doesn’t support AirPrint, it isn’t on the same network as your iPhone, or something between them is blocking the message. The checks below go from the quickest to the most involved. Stop as soon as your printer appears.
1. Wake the printer up
Many printers drop off Wi-Fi when they go into deep sleep, and your iPhone can’t find what isn’t on the network.
- The printer is on. Press any button or tap its screen to wake it fully.
- The Wi-Fi light is solid, not blinking or off. Blinking usually means it’s still connecting or lost the network.
- No error on the display. A printer stuck on a setup screen or error message may not announce itself.
Give it 30 seconds after waking, then open the print dialog again.
2. Check that your printer supports AirPrint
The iPhone’s print dialog only shows AirPrint printers. Most Wi-Fi printers from HP, Epson, Canon and Brother sold in the last decade support it, but not all of them. Some budget ink-tank and entry-level models don’t, even though they have Wi-Fi.
- Look for AirPrint on the box, in the spec sheet or in the printer’s network menu.
- Search for your exact model in Apple’s AirPrint printer search. Apple notes that if a printer isn’t listed, you should check with the manufacturer.
- Or run our AirPrint checker. It takes about 30 seconds and tells you what to do next for your model.
Honest note
If your printer doesn’t support AirPrint, no setting on your iPhone will make it appear in this list, and that includes AirPrint apps like Printer. Your options are the maker’s own app, if it supports your model, or printing without Wi-Fi through a computer.
3. Put both devices on the same Wi-Fi network
AirPrint only works inside one network. This is the most common cause, and it’s easy to miss:
- Guest networks. If your iPhone is on “Home-Guest” and the printer is on “Home”, they can’t see each other. Most routers keep guest devices apart on purpose.
- Separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz names. Many printers only use 2.4 GHz. If your router shows two network names, like “Home” and “Home-5G”, join the one the printer uses or ask whether the two bands are bridged.
- Mesh systems and extenders. Devices on a satellite or extender should still be on the same network, but some extenders create their own. Check the network name on both devices.
To see which network the printer is on, open its Network or Wi-Fi menu, or print a network configuration page from the printer’s settings. On iPhone, open Settings → Wi-Fi and check the name with the tick.
4. Turn off VPN and private relay for a moment
Some privacy features can get in the way of local discovery on some networks:
- VPN apps. A VPN can route your iPhone’s traffic away from your home network. Turn it off in the VPN app or in Settings → VPN, then try again.
- Limit IP Address Tracking (which also controls iCloud Private Relay on a network) is designed for internet traffic, not your local network, and printing usually works with it on. If nothing else has helped, turn it off for this Wi-Fi network as a test (Settings → Wi-Fi → ⓘ next to your network), then switch it back on.
5. Allow Local Network access for printing apps
Apple’s own print dialog doesn’t need this, but third-party apps that look for printers do. If an app can’t see your printer while Photos or Safari can, check this setting.
-
Open Local Network settings
Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network.
-
Turn the app on
Find the app you’re printing from and switch it on. For the Printer app, allow Local Network access. It uses it only to find AirPrint printers on the Wi-Fi you’re connected to.
6. Restart the printer, the router and your iPhone
The order matters. Restart the router first and wait until the internet light is back. Then turn the printer off, wait 30 seconds and turn it on again. Wait until its Wi-Fi light is solid. Finally, restart your iPhone. That way every device gets a fresh connection and announces itself again.
7. Forget the network and rejoin
If your iPhone is holding on to a bad connection, rejoining clears it.
-
Forget the network
Open Settings → Wi-Fi, tap ⓘ next to your network and tap Forget This Network.
-
Rejoin
Pick the same network from the list and enter the password. Make sure it’s the network the printer is on.
8. Check AirPrint and Bonjour in the printer’s settings
AirPrint relies on a discovery service called Bonjour (also known as mDNS). On some printers it can be switched off, especially on office models or after a reset.
-
Find the printer’s IP address
It’s in the printer’s Network or Wi-Fi status menu, or on a printed network configuration page. It looks like 192.168.1.23.
-
Open the printer’s web page
Type that address into Safari on your iPhone. Most network printers have a built-in settings page.
-
Turn AirPrint and Bonjour on
Look under Network, Protocols or AirPrint for settings named AirPrint, Bonjour or mDNS, and make sure they’re enabled. Some pages ask for an admin password, usually printed on a label on the printer.
On the router side, a setting called client isolation, AP isolation or wireless isolation stops devices on the same Wi-Fi from seeing each other. It’s common on guest networks and some ISP routers. If it’s on for your main network, turning it off usually brings the printer back. Mesh and business routers sometimes also have an mDNS or multicast option that should be on.
9. Update the printer’s firmware
Printer makers fix discovery and AirPrint bugs in firmware updates. Check for an update from the printer’s control panel or its web page, usually under Settings, Tools or Web Services. Leave the printer on until the update finishes.
10. Reset Network Settings, as a last resort
This removes all saved Wi-Fi passwords
Resetting network settings erases every Wi-Fi network and password your iPhone remembers, plus VPN settings. Have your Wi-Fi password ready.
Go to Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → Reset Network Settings. After the iPhone restarts, rejoin your Wi-Fi and try printing again.
Notes by printer brand
HP
Most HP Wi-Fi printers support AirPrint. If the printer also isn’t showing up in HP’s own app, the printer is probably off the network. HP Smart has been replaced by the HP app, which needs an HP account for full functionality. See what to use instead of HP Smart and our HP printer guide.
Epson
Check the exact model. Some budget Epson ink-tank models don’t support AirPrint, including many L-series models and some entry-level EcoTank models. Epson’s Smart Panel app works with selected newer models, and iPrint covers more. See which Epson app you need and our Epson printer guide.
Canon
Canon owners have reported AirPrint problems after iOS updates, for example in this Canon Community thread about the imageCLASS MF227dw. A firmware update and a full restart of printer and router are the first things to try. More in our Canon printer guide.
Brother
Brother network printers generally support AirPrint, and many also offer Wi-Fi Direct for printing without a router. If the printer isn’t found, check its WLAN status on the control panel first. See our Brother printer guide.
If it started after an iOS update
iOS 27 came out on September 14, 2026, and after any big update some people find their printer missing. In one Apple Community thread, a printer that disappeared after the iOS 26 update came back after reconnecting to the network. Before anything else, restart the router and the printer, then rejoin Wi-Fi on your iPhone as in step 7. If that doesn’t help, update the printer’s firmware.
Still nothing? Work through the broader checklist in iPhone can’t find printer. It also covers printers that appear and then vanish.
Questions people ask
What does “No AirPrint Printers Found” mean?
Your iPhone searched the Wi-Fi network it’s connected to and no printer answered as an AirPrint printer. Either the printer doesn’t support AirPrint, it isn’t on that network, or something on the network is blocking the discovery messages.
My printer worked yesterday. Why can’t my iPhone find it today?
Usually the printer went into deep sleep, rejoined the network with a new address, or your iPhone switched to a different network or band. Wake the printer, check both devices are on the same Wi-Fi, and restart the printer and router.
Can I add an AirPrint printer manually by IP address on iPhone?
No. iOS doesn’t let you add a printer by IP address (IT departments can add printers to managed iPhones with a configuration profile). It only lists printers that announce themselves on the network, so the fix is always to make the printer visible: same network, discovery not blocked, AirPrint turned on.
Does the printer need to be connected to the internet?
No. AirPrint works over your local network. The printer and iPhone need to be on the same Wi-Fi, but AirPrint itself doesn’t need internet access to print. One exception: if HP+ was activated on an HP printer, HP requires that printer to stay online.
My printer doesn’t support AirPrint. What can I do?
Check whether the maker’s own app supports your model, or print from a computer the printer is connected to. Our AirPrint checker walks you through the options for your model.
